We are the Friars of the Sick Poor of Los Angeles (fsp).  Our mission is to give ourselves to God in the service of the sick-poor and marginalized, whom we receive in God's name.  Christ and the Gospel are the Rule and way of life for the friars.  "Being found ever ready to tell them the reason for our hope" 1st Peter 3:15

The sick-poor and marginalized mirror to the friars the image of Christ.  Likewise, the friars are to mirror to those whom they minister to, the compassionate face of Jesus the Christ as found in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

Our charism is to assist the sick-poor and marginalized to find meaning in their suffering and sickness as being redemptive, inviting them to a fuller life within the Church, a life that is filled with HOPE.
Our Core Values:
"Be ever ready to tell them the reason for your hope" 1Peter 3:15
 Marian Spirituality:
The first living Tabernacle... the first to hold Christ within and contemplate him day and night. Like Mary at the foot of the cross, we stand in the midst of the pain and suffering and do not flee"
"See how they love one another..." John 13:35
"God being rich in mercy...Even when we were dead through our sins, made us alive together with Christ"         Eph 2:4
"He who is without sin, cast the first stone" John 8:7
"Be still and know that I am God" Ps. 46
Are founded in Scripture and grounded in our daily living the consecrated life with an undivided heart.

To follow Christ more closely and to carry on the work of the Church, while "Living in the midst of the world", the friars publicly profess the perpetual vows of poverty, chastity and obedience.  The friars also profess a fourth vow of self-sufficiency, rendering themselves available for the service of Christ in solidarity with the sick-poor.

The friars are to find Christ and contemplate Him day and night in the heart, breath and life of the sick poor, under the protection of Our Lady of Guadalupe, in whose mantle they find themselves gathered under recalling her words to St. Juan Diego, "Am I not here? Am I not your Mother? Are you not under my protection? Do I not know every desire of your heart?"
